About The LASIK Index

The LASIK Index is an independent directory of LASIK and refractive surgery practices in the United States. It exists because comparing LASIK providers is harder than it should be. Most practices do not publish a price, many do not say who operates, and LASIK advertising that did mention a price has drawn action from the Federal Trade Commission.

We are an editorial team, not a medical provider, a referral service or a group of surgeons. Nobody here will tell you whether to have surgery. We put each practice's prices, procedures, surgeons and technology side by side with its public reputation, and we date all of it.

How is it funded?

The directory is free to use and free for practices to be listed in. Revenue comes from a small number of labelled sponsored placements. They sit outside the ranked list and never affect a practice's score or what its record says.

What will it not do?

The LASIK Index shares a consultation request only with the practices you ask us to contact, and only with your consent. It does not give medical advice, and it does not call any surgeon the best.
