Editorial Policy

The LASIK Index publishes verified facts with a date and keeps opinion out of practice records. This policy sets out the rules every page follows.

Sources

Practice data comes from public business records, each practice's own published information and the federal NPI registry. Ratings and reviews are Google's and are labelled as such. Medical descriptions cite the FDA or the American Academy of Ophthalmology and link to the page used.

Medical content

We explain what a procedure is and who performs it. We do not say who should have it, promise results, or describe any procedure as safe or painless. Statements about risks, recovery and candidacy are attributed to the FDA.

Use of AI

Practice and city summaries are drafted with AI from a fixed set of facts held in our database, checked by software for unsupported claims and promotional language, and spot-checked by an editor. The model cannot add facts. Every number on the site is calculated from the database.

Images

Practice photos come from each practice's public Google Maps profile. City images are AI-generated illustrations and are labelled as such. We do not use stock photos of surgeons or patients, and we do not generate images of people.

Independence

Practices cannot pay to change their score, their rank or the content of their record. Sponsored placements are labelled.
