Eye Care of San Diego: Mission Hills

Our encounter with the front desk staff and Dr. Allen this morning was courteous and professional. However, our encounter with Kathy, an assistant, was far from that which is why I’m rating it a 1/5 stars. From the beginning of the appointment, her tone was not only dismissive, but it was condescending. During the appointment, one of the many questions she asked was what medications my dad was taking. I had already written down all of his medications on the paperwork at the front desk, but didn’t mind providing the list again. I started reading them off, ...

I had a very positive experience overall. The provider was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and took the time to explain everything clearly, which I really appreciated. The only area for improvement would be the overall warmth and welcoming atmosphere. A friendlier, more personable approach would have made the experience even better. Thank you for the excellent care and expertise.

I have tried calling the listed phone number, and it never picked up my call after waiting 10 minutes. I have tried to call the surgery scheduler 4 times today. No Connection!!! I can't even cancel the surgery required five days before the date. The office manager should recognize the problem!!! My doctor is great, but the communication system at Eye Care of San Diego is unsatisfactory.

Well, after all the money I spent and subsequent insurance I ended up getting, and 3 different eye appointments to come up with a suitable eye glasses prescription, my glasses have been a complete disappointment and not usable at all. A complete waiste of resources and I will be finding a new doctor. In addition, some emoyees at this location are personable but the majority don't seem happy at all and at odds with each other to some degree. That's not the environment I care to continue with.

I had a lovely experience with the nurse, the scribe, and Dr. Rachael. Everyone was on point and totally professional. They also took their time and gave me advice on which way to go regarding strengthening my eye muscles vs getting glasses or minor surgery. I took their recommendations very seriously and will look forward to her seeing my progress. Parking was surprising easy as well. I’ve had an appointment on the books for a year. I received 6+ appointment confirmations and when I went in they told me Dr. Sara Julazadeh, OD was not at this location and in another near the border some 45 minutes away. The doctor that was taking her appointments doesn’t accept insurance. I found this out after overhearing it when another patient was surprised by that comment and had to pay out of pocket! Being I was told to take a seat while 2 others that came after were checked in prior to my place in queue but at least heard this. $6 in parking, ...
