Gerstein Eye Institute

It was around Oct/nov 2022 that I started coming here. My right eye felt irritated for a day or two, and then I woke up in the middle of the night, sobbing, unable to keep my eyes open and incredibly sensitive to light coming in through either eye! I was in so much pain and I could barely even manage to google a place to go. The light from my phone was killing me and I couldn’t make out the characters well, but I did my best and I started calling places at 5, 6 and 7am. Very bad service. The front desk does not pick up the phone. I requested medical records, the office is not sending me a copy, which they are obligated to provide by law. They don't take insurance, waste people's time and are unprofessional. The doctor does a hasty consultation. When I asked to elaborate on a surgical procedure, I was given a ridiculous description where the doctor started describing the procedure using M&M candy example. What?? When I requested to have an explanation in medical terms, so that I know what anatomy the surgery will be ...

I think that Dr. Gerstein is an excellent doctor, having done 2 cataract surgeries for me. The last time I had my eyes checked, I ordered a new pair of readers. The gentleman told me that they would be in about a week and that he would contact me and mail them to me, as he did with my previous pair. Two weeks went by, and I heard nothing. I called them on Monday and was informed somebody would get back to me the same day. This did not happen. So, I called them three days later and just like magic, all of a sudden he was going to mail them immediately. ...

The doctor is perfect, but the problem, the front desk and the stuff very mean and very rude and respectful even when you call them, they don’t help and they keep saying busy even if you have emergency. I never recommend this clinic because the patient always need to ask a question and need to have a flexible staff Even the phone call is hard to get answered really disappointed with this Clinic Specially, the front desk and the people answer the phone she hung up the phone and on my face because I asked a question and she was so rude

Most doctors/clinics are there to help you with treatment but not with actual healing. At this clinic, the staff and especially Dr. Gerstein are there to restore and heal your vision. I thought I would never be able to live without glasses again, especially driving, but everything changed after the painless eye surgery. I am overjoyed and happy. Thank you Dr. Gerstein, thank you to the staff. I recommend them to everyone. My family members have already made appointments. Another big THANK YOU!
