You may get caught in a electronic/digital loop in order to reach a person -- a "Catch 22," but the loop gets bigger and bigger. I went from Ophthalmology Dept. to a digital hold for world-wide Northwestern. FINALLY, reached a person by calling a phone number at the bottom of the original text, as the text directed. The person who answered said she was forwarding me to the doctor's office; she returned me to the electronic/digital loop for world-wide Northwestern. I give up. Will go old-school with a pen-and-ink letter.

My wife is here for chemo and trial drug cancer treatment. Because of this office’s very slow service we were forced to miss an appointment resulting in us having to stay in Chicago an additional evening. As I’m writing this I am in the waiting area at 4:55 pm for an eye exam appointment at 2:45 pm. We have ct scans, echos, an mri and each place we visited we were helped very close to our appointment time. I called the scheduler for a pre-op appointment 6 times for over two weeks without a call back; the Ophthalmology Dept. 4 times who promised to have the scheduler call me, but again with no call back; and patient relations 2 times with no call back. I spent hours on my first appointment and will now have to start over with another provider. I’ve never posted a review before, but never felt so helpless and experienced such obvious negligence. They don’t deserve even a 2.3 rating and I’m sure many would also have given them a “0” if they could.

The check in people are not the friendliest. I think they want to just collect a paycheck but they should be held accountable. I think that this is cause for the bad reviews. But once you actually see the staff it gets a whole lot better from there. They are super nice and excellent at what they do. Overall, my recent visit with Northwestern Medicine was quite disappointing. I had already scheduled a LASIK procedure for the end of July and reached out beforehand to inquire about the possibility of an Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) procedure. Despite having already undergone a consultation regarding LASIK, I was still advised to come in for another consultation, which felt unnecessary.
