All of the staff I interacted with were kind, professional, and helpful, and I truly appreciated the experience on that front. However, I was surprised by the facility’s blanket policy prohibiting treatment for lactating women. From what I understand, this guidance is largely based on theoretical hormonal effects and limited, sometimes contradictory data - not strong, consistent clinical evidence. Hoopes Vision center is really centered around the patient and not the bottom line. We went in for an initial consultation for my husband for lasik in one eye (for distance) and left with a contact in his eye to trial the idea. The doctor’s we talked to were not pushy. They were not asking for money down or “this will be the best thing you ever did for yourself” kinda talk and I sensitive to that since I teach persuasive writing so I was impressed that anytime my husband had a question they gave him a straightforward answer even if it was negative. ...
